Types of Septorhinoplasty/Rhinoplasty

There are a variety of different reasons for patients having rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty.

The common categories are:

  • Females - provide straight or upturned/curved profile with small or well defined nasal tip

  • Males - provide straight profile with masculine features - wider tip

  • Nasal "Tip-Plasty" - improve nasal tip size/symmetry

  • Revision Cases Ethnic Rhinoplasty - typically involving thick skin

  • Reduction Rhinoplasty - reduce the size of the nose - to remove a hump or make the nose smaller

  • Augmentation Rhinoplasty - increase the size of the nose, by filling in the drum or raising a collapsed tip - usually requires grafting

  • Reconstructive Rhinoplasty - following multiple revisions, cocaine use, or severe trauma - usually requires grafting and may be staged

Each case is different and a tailored approach is used for patients depending on their medical history, age, skin type, ethnicity, gender and personal preferences.
